The future is here.
The storm is now.

We stand on the brink of climate catastrophe: of ecological devastation, of flooding, drought, disease, famine and war.

It is time for us to act.

Our politicians have been bought off and they are scared. We are the resistance. We are done with doing as we are told. It is time to ask for what we want.

It is time to make them hear us: to stand our ground non-violently. To dismantle the system and protect the living and ask.

We are free citizens with power not consumers. We are so much more than the powerless customer the system needs to fill its gut. We are the generation who are going to get fucked over in a way no generation has in the past.

The climate has changed. It is time for us to rise. Ask for zero emissions.

We burn with boredom for the status quo.
We are the culture hackers, the crackers, the disruptors, the now. We are the passion of the age The watchers The ones who get it – the future is here.

The storm is now.
And we are ready.

We are fury, resistance and hope. We are the future. Join us.

February 2014:  large tracts of land in the UK are drowning as freak rainfall floods vulnerable communities.

The Future went to bear witness to the devastation.  We met with people whose homes, businesses and farms had been flooded. Some people had been trapped in their homes for over three months, all but abandoned by the British Government. Somerset residents raged at how inadequate the Prime Minister’s response had been to the flooding and scorned the government’s complete lack of foresight. Just last year, Somerset faced some of the worst flooding ever seen in the area and yet this year their Government was once again completely unprepared to deal with the freak weather.

The flooded residents and the volunteers who had travelled from across the country to help them chose to wear The Future’s Eye symbol.  They wore it to express their anger at how vulnerable homes and livelihoods are when freak weather overwhelms them.

The Future knows that floods and other extreme weather events will increasingly become the new normal as climate change wreaks its havoc.  We will bear witness to the damage that is done, and allow the people who are worst hit to express their rage by wearing the Eye symbol.

The floods in Somerset have become one of the most prominent examples of the devastation caused by climate change in the UK, but it’s only a matter of time before the storm is at your front door too.

We can’t blame just one thing for climate change, but we can point the finger of blame at the people we elect into power for their failure to show the leadership we need if we are to have any chance of protecting the future from far greater levels of climate disaster.

The storm is now

And we are the resistance.
