Today we read The Hunger Games around the world to draw attention to the way that climate change is threatening their future. The protests coincided with the penultimate day of a critically important United Nations climate change meeting in Lima, Peru.
Young protesters at the Lima meeting wore The Future’s symbol – a bold circle drawn around the right Eye – and read from The Hunger Games while governments tried to negotiate a new international climate agreement. The Lima protesters were supported by other young people in cities around the world including London, Sydney, Paris, and San Francisco as they donned The Eye and read from The Hunger Games.
The protest today is the beginning of a year long series of Hunger Games protests we will be holding that will culminate with the release of the final Hunger Games movie in November 2015 – a few weeks before the current round of climate negotiations end at the crucial UN climate conference Paris in December 2015.
