The future is here.
The storm is now.

We stand on the brink of climate catastrophe: of ecological devastation, of flooding, drought, disease, famine and war.

It is time for us to act.

Our politicians have been bought off and they are scared. We are the resistance. We are done with doing as we are told. It is time to ask for what we want.

It is time to make them hear us: to stand our ground non-violently. To dismantle the system and protect the living and ask.

We are free citizens with power not consumers. We are so much more than the powerless customer the system needs to fill its gut. We are the generation who are going to get fucked over in a way no generation has in the past.

The climate has changed. It is time for us to rise. Ask for zero emissions.

We burn with boredom for the status quo.
We are the culture hackers, the crackers, the disruptors, the now. We are the passion of the age The watchers The ones who get it – the future is here.

The storm is now.
And we are ready.

We are fury, resistance and hope. We are the future. Join us.

4x4s suck: The Future goes to Canary Wharf

The Future at Canary Wharf

London’s top financial district – Canary Wharf – has turned its open spaces into a high carbon car showroom.

Boys with big salaries can now grab an oyster and champagne lunch from a stall that looks onto a green covered with enormously expensive 4x4s and the sorts of sports cars that get stuck on London’s speed bumps…

The whole scene reminded us of an action that some Georgians did – with t-shirts that read ‘big car, small penis’.

All these city boys,  secure in Canary Wharf – a private estate fortified from Tower Hamlets (London’s poorest borough in which it sits) by private security checkpoints and security staff who dress up like policemen…

From their insulation they enjoy their lunch and gaze adoringly at huge gas guzzling cars, the perfect status symbol for the modern millionaire’s ‘fuck the rest of the world’ isolation.

The dystopia of Canary Wharf is one version of the future. It’s the one supported by people with power who will lock the whole world out rather than admit that resources are limited and we could even share.

And so we, The Future – the one worth fighting for, thought we’d go and deflate this dystopian future. We went to the car show room created on the green spaces of Canary Wharf and, frankly, we took the piss. Running rings around the private security; draping ourselves on cars that wreck the climate and all the time our t-shirts said it all: Fuck 4x4s

Here’s what happened…
